HAPRI SEMINAR: Corruption norms and international corporate tax avoidance: Evidence from foreign-invested firms in Vietnam

About presenter:

Bach Ngoc Thang is an associate professor of economics at Institute for Sustainable Development, National Economics University, Hanoi, Vietnam. He is an associate editor at Singapore Economic Review, Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies, and Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science – Economics and Business Administration. In 2014, he received Ph.D. in economics from The University of Queensland. He has active research programs in the fields of Economic Growth and Development, Governance, and SMEs. His research works have been published in a number of international academic journals, such as World Development, The Economics of Transition, The Journal of Development Studies, Public Administration and Development, Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy, The Developing Economies, among others. Besides teaching and research, he participates in doing consultancy and community services in the areas of governance and sustainable development, with notable clients such as National Foundation for Science and Technology Development, UNDP, World Bank, Australian Embassy, and JICA. He also supervises students at Ph.D. level, and serves as a seminar series coordinator for the English-taught Doctor of Philosophy (E-Ph.D.) Programme at National Economics University.

Tiến sĩ Bạch Ngọc Thắng là Phó Giáo sư Kinh tế học của Viện Phát triển bền vững, Đại học Kinh tế Quốc dân Hà Nội. Ông là trợ lý biên tập tại Singapore Economic Review, Tạp chí Nghiên cứu Kinh tế và Kinh doanh Châu Á và Tạp chí Khoa học Đại học Mở Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh - Kinh tế và Quản trị kinh doanh. Trong năm 2014, ông nhận bằng Tiến sĩ Kinh tế của Đại học Queensland, Australia. Lĩnh vực nghiên cứu chủ chốt của Tiến sĩ bao gồm Tăng trưởng và Phát triển kinh tế, Quản trị công, Doanh nghiệp nhỏ và vừa. Các công trình nghiên cứu của Phó Giáo sư đã được đăng tải trên các tạp chí học thuật quốc tế hàng đầu, chẳng hạn như World Development, The Economics of Transition, The Journal of Development Studies, The Developing Economies, International Journal of Public Sector Management, Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy, Journal of Economics and Development, bên cạnh các tạp chí khác. Bên cạnh hoạt động giảng dạy và nghiên cứu, ông có tham gia tư vấn và hoạt động cộng đồng trong lĩnh vực quản trị và phát triển bền vững, cho các đối tác tiêu biểu như Bộ Khoa học và Công nghệ, Đại sứ quán Australia, UNDP, World Bank và JICA. Phó Giáo sư cũng tham gia hướng dẫn nghiên cứu sinh, và hiện là điều phối viên chuỗi seminar của Chương trình đào tạo tiến sĩ bằng tiếng Anh E-PhD tại Đại học Kinh tế Quốc dân.
